How It Works
Customizing Your Sign

The 5-step process that follows is quick and easy and should take you only a few minutes to complete.

Step 1.  Choose the material you want your sign to be made of.  Below are some questions and considerations for you to ask yourself as you make your choices.

*Is my sign going to be mounted indoors or outside?

Indoor signage can be essentially made from any material you desire, although untreated wood may still warp, crack and/or shrink.  Some of our customers are looking for that rustic or aged look to their sign and a “weathered” wood look may suit your desired outcome. Additionally, wood that is treated with Paint or Polyurethane should maintain its’ beauty for years if the sign remains indoors.

Because outdoor signage is exposed to the elements of weather, choosing your material may be more important to you.  Again, if a rustic, aged look is what you desire any wood will do, but you can be assured it will fade, crack and warp as the weather does its’ thing.  For an outdoor “clean finished” look, choose either the PVC sheet or the wood composite.  Both materials are weatherproof and will withstand the rigors or rain, wind, heat, and cold without fading, cracking or distortion.  It may require a wax application once a year to maintain its’ brilliance.

Step 2.  Choose your size and shape.  Not much clarification needed here, but we would caution you to choose a size large enough so that whatever verbiage and images you choose for your sign, the result will not look too crowded.  You’ll have an opportunity to approve your sign before we begin construction, so you’ll have a final look to make changes if needed. Unless otherwise specified, all sides will have rounded or routed edges.

Step 3.  Choose colors and/or finish for the Background and/or the lettering you desire.

Step 4. Enter the verbiage you want by choosing the font and typing it into the location in the size and shape sign that you chose.

Step 5. Use the “notes” section to describe an image you may want included and any other instructions or comments for our craftsmen.  Not to worry, you will have an opportunity to approve it.  Then click on “Order.”

Proofing and Ordering Your Sign

Within a day or two you will receive an email with a digital mockup of your Sign of my Time.  Simply click on the approve button and work will begin and your credit card will be charged.

You will have 72 hours to approve the proof, as we begin a project once design is approved and your position may change if there are delays. If upon approval, you have changes you want to make, make those changes to size and font.  If you wish to change the image, briefly describe those changes in a reply to the email you receive the proof in. Generally, delivery takes about 10 days after approval, and you will be notified when your sign ships.

Below is the Sign of my Time manufacturing process that ensures a high-quality result and one you will be proud to display.

Once we receive an order, we select, cut, and shape the material which you have selected.

If the order requires paint, we put 2 coats of high-quality primer followed by a high gloss sign enamel. If the designated finish is natural, we generally apply 2 coats of sealer unless the customer has directed otherwise.

Once dry, we carve the sign verbiage and images to the customers specifications and paint the lettering (if required) with a high gloss enamel specifically manufactured for sign lettering.

Once all coats of paint have thoroughly dried, we apply a wax coat to maintain the brilliance of your colors that provide a lasting sheen.

Our final step is to install the hanging mechanism that you have chosen.  Once completed your sign is ready to ship.
